Successful litter pick

Thursday 18.4.19

Thank you to the volunteers who gave up some of their time on this sunny Thursday afternoon, just before the even sunnier Easter weekend.

Doncaster MBC loaned the litter grabbers, hi-vis jackets, hoops, gloves  and bin bags ready for us to tackle the litter louts. Due to the amount of volunteers, Amanda woods of  Tesco Edenthorpe organised more bin bags and also bottles of  water for the volunteers (thirsty work on a sunny day).

The group split up to work the full stretch of Edenthorpe. Some of the areas covered were the pond and area near Sainsburys, the length of Thorne Rd from Sainsburys roundabout to Longfield Drive area, Long Plantation, small copse and Mere Lane Bridle Path, Far Field Playing fields, to mention a few.  Approximately 24 full sacks of rubbish were collected by our volunteers. These were then picked up by Doncaster MBC refuse team. Great team work. 🙂

Sadly we still have a minority of residents who think it is ok to drop  cans, cigarette packets and other litter around our village. The very next evening,  (Good Friday)  glass bottles were smashed on Mere Lane Play Park  all around the slide where children play.  🙁

Please lets try and keep our village looking clean and tidy, teach others to have a respect for the place we all live in. Nobody wants to live in a place resembling a rubbish dump.

Thank you,

Anne
