New nesting boxes in the village

The 47th Edenthorpe Scout Group recently constructed twelve new nesting boxes, with materials provided by the parish council. These bird boxes have been installed in woodland areas off Lyndale Avenue, with six located at the end of Fieldside and six at the end of Elmdale Drive. The Scouts researched appropriate hole sizes for different bird species to ensure suitability for various inhabitants. Each box features the Scouts’ logo as a mark of their involvement. A Blue Tit was sighted this morning making enquiries at one of the boxes. Thank you to the hard working scout group and to parish councillor Steve Sutcliffe-ward who has put the boxes up.

Dog fouling in the village

Dog fouling in the village is again at an unacceptable level. By law, dog owners must clean up after their pets when outside the home. Dog faeces can cause toxocariasis, a serious illness that may lead to blindness, especially in children. Failure to clean up results in a £100 fine, rising to a further fine of £1,000 if unpaid.
