Carol Singing 1st December 2017.
Edenthorpe Parish Council would like to give their huge thanks to all the businesses and individuals who kindly donated towards our first ever Carol service/ tree lighting ceremony on The War Memorial Green.
Donations were received from Lidl (opposite Sandall Park)Tesco Edenthorpe, Sainsbury’s Edenthorpe, Asda (Bawtry Rd), Joanne’s Cafe Edenthorpe, Co-op (Kirk Sandall), Morrisons (Balby), Mr Hill and The Eden Arms. These kind donations enabled all who attended to be served with hot mulled wine or juice as well as mince pies and sweets for the children.
We were blown away by the attendance figures, difficult to say, but there must have been in excess of 150 people on The Green. The atmosphere was buzzing, everyone chatting, singing and generally joining together as a community.
Our very own Jen Oxley (Edenthorpe Resident of the Year 2017) switched on the tree lights to start our ‘Christmas in Edenthorpe’. Reverend Steven Beck from Church of the Good Shepherd was our leader in song, he also kindly provided the PA system, backing tracks and song sheets and was a perfect compère. Thank you also to Doncaster Ukulele Group, who played for us, giving us renditions of Winter Wonderland as well as many others.
Thank you to everyone who helped, (you know who you are), especially Linda Lauri Ali and her lovely family who made posters, helped with the organisation of the event and served everyone on the night (whilst singing of course).
The icing on the cake – not a scrap of litter was left by anybody!
Next Year is booked so pop the date in your diaries. We have gone for the closest Friday to December which makes next year’s date – 30th November 2018 at 6:30pm on The War Memorial Green. See you all there. 🎄🎤🎄
We wish you all a healthy, happy and safe Christmas period.
