Far Field, Edenthorpe

Exciting Improvements To Tesco Field.

This all began early last year when Edenthorpe Parish Council requested that a park be situated on Marian Rd Playing Fields just as it used to be many years ago. Sadly, but understandably this couldn’t go ahead because the Playing Fields are now used as a training ground and hold events for Edenthorpe Junior FC.

Fred Gee and Anne Flanagan met up with Council officers in Thorne and negotiations began. Section 106 monies were available for the improvement of  open space in the area. Consultation events were held and many residents attended. Local school children gave their thoughts and pupils from Edenthorpe Hall Primary School submitted designs.

It seems that all this has now culminated in exciting plans being drawn up and the construction work to be during the Summer of 2017.

EDENTHORPE PLANTERS

Summer Bedding Plants.

On Friday 2nd June, just before the rain began (and during a heavy downpour) the planters around the village were filled with a variety of Summer bedding plants. The majority of these have been grown by our very own Chairman – Fred Gee.

Parish Councillors Fred Gee, Paul Bissett, Dave Barrow and Clerk Anne Flanagan cleared out the planters and topped them up with fresh compost before adding the new plants. Fred Gee then followed up afterwards with the bowser to give them a really good water. (It has rained ever since)!

It would really help if villagers living nearby the planters could give them some water during dry spells. A special mention to Dr and Mrs Griffiths who helped Fred fill the planter on Lyndale Ave, they have always helped with watering too.  Thank you. 🙂
