Have your say!

Good Morning all,

To add to the work we have been doing locally to look at street safety and quality, we have recently been involved with Sheffield City Region Wider planning for developing a walking and cycling map to allow the public to log any concerns.

This has now gone live, and is accessible to anybody to view and add to (please copy the link into chrome as explorer doesn’t open it properly).
It would be great to get as many comments as possible added to this so please circulate to all your contacts. I will also be adding all the issues raised in the recent community street audits.

Have your say about your streets at: https://cyclewalkscrmap.sheffieldcityregion.org.uk/

What’s it all about?
Dame Sarah Storey, Mayor Dan Jarvis’ Active Travel Commissioner, is inviting people from across the region to highlight what is and what isn’t working on South Yorkshire’s current network of roads, cycle paths and footpaths. When appointed as Commissioner, Dame Sarah pledged to listen to communities across South Yorkshire as she works to enable more people to leave the car at home and walk or cycle.

Now is your chance to have your say about the current issues on your local streets that make it less appealing to you to walk or cycle. Whether it’s pavement parking, a lack of pedestrian and cycle crossings, or unsuitable cycle infrastructure, we want to know.

1. What are your journeys like now?
2. How could they be improved and made safer?
3. Do you face challenges on what should be the simplest of journeys?

All contributions will be used as part of the work taking place with South Yorkshire’s four local authorities to help plan what the region’s Active Travel Network could look like by 2040.

Who’s it for?
• those who walk or cycle now
• those who want to walk or cycle more in the future
• parents who struggle with buggies and worry about when their toddlers want to run on ahead
• teenagers who don’t feel safe walking to school
• people using wheelchairs or have mobility aids
• people with visual or hearing impairments who require assistance to travel
